Alastair Burrows started to play trombone at the age of 8, studying with local trombonist Simon Cowen. Alastair attended both Wigan and Bolton music services as well as St. Helens Youth Brass Band as Principal Trombone. He has had much success, playing in the winning band at the National Youth Brass Band Championships of Great Britain and performing in the Queens Golden Jubilee celebrations. In 2003 he joined the Halle Youth Orchestra as Principal Trombone and was a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain in 2005

In the same year he started his studies at the Royal Northern College of Music, studying with Chris Houlding; Andrew Berryman; Simon Cowen; Rob Holliday and Roger Cutts.

Alastair plays regularly in orchestras across the north of England, most notably the Halle and Manchester Camerata. He is also active in the brass band world and has performed with Wingates; Fairies; Grimethorpe Colliery and Brighouse and Rastrick bands. He also plays in popular dubstep group "Hotbotz"As a soloist Alastair has given performances of the Rimsky Korsakov concerto and Adam Gorb's Downtown Diversions. He has also appeared as guest soloist with brass bands in the North West.

Alastair is currently teaching for Lancashire Music Service as well as continuing his career as a freelance trombonist and conducting.
